What Is Hypnotherapy?



First of all -let's get one thing straight- Hypnotherapy has absolutely nothing to do with mind control.  Forget the shows you've seen on television where people embarrass themselves.  That is pure entertainment and bears no relation to Hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy is an empowering therapy that helps you to help yourself!  It is about helping you to "reset" negative thought patterns into positive ones that will impact directly on how you live your life.  Hypnotherapy is simply a relaxed and focused state of mind brought about by relaxation techniques.  It focuses your mind and increases your responsiveness to positive suggestions helping you make positive changes.

The great thing about hypnotherapy is that there are absolutely no negative side effects.  It is a perfectly safe and natural way of using your own inner resources to reorganise your thoughts and behaviours to bring about beneficial change.

Everyone can be hypnotised - it is just a matter of whether you allow the process to happen.  We all pass through a hypnotic state when waking and sleeping every day...it is a perfectly natural state... have you ever driven along, thinking about different things, and realised that you can't remember actually driving the last mile?  That's because you were experiencing a hypnotic state whereby your conscious mind focused on thoughts other than driving and your subconscious took over the controls!  Day dreaming is exactly the same.

Additional Therapies

I am qualified in a variety of different techniques which will allow me to customize your personal treatment and enable me to maximize the effectiveness of your therapy when used together.

 

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on the old Chinese traditions of acupuncture and acupressure.  About 5000 years ago the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that run through the body - meridians.  EFT works on the principle that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system -in these meridians.  By tapping on specific points on the body the meridians are cleared and profound changes can often be seen in emotional and physical health.  I have successfully attained a Level 3 Certificate in EFT through an Approved Practitioner and will teach you how to use this technique yourself as a self- help tool after therapy as well as utilising it during sessions for the relief of many issues.

 

Pure Hypnoanalysis is a highly developed form of hypnotherapy.  I practise the Neil French Method of Free Association Hypnoanalysis in which only a limited number of therapists are trained.  This is a highly effective form of therapy for the resolution of anxiety, depression, phobias, fears, eating disorders and other psychological and emotional problems/symptoms.  It can totally resolve the cause of the subconscious anxiety leaving you free to embrace and enjoy the rest of your life.

Free Association Hypnoanalysis requires a commitment of between 10-12 weekly sessions, each lasting approximately an hour each.  It sets out to release and resolve bottled up emotions, conflicts and anxieties, which can often be rooted in childhood.
